for 2 travelers
When to go
November - May
Home to several laid-back beach towns and a near-empty shoreline composed of long golden beaches, the little-developed coast of the state of Oaxaca is an enchanting destination where time seems to slow down. Everywhere the scenery is spectacular, the atmosphere is relaxed and the people are friendly. There will be plenty of opportunities to swimm, snorkel, surf, hike or just relax at the beach drinking fresh coconut water.
What to expect: with this self guided trip you will be provided with a digital itinerary that will guide you step by step and allow you to explore the Oaxacan coast at your own pace. The total driving distance for the trip will be around 240km (150mi) (4h).
Itinerary: Your 6 day - 6 night trip will begin at the surf town of Puerto Escondido, where you'll take a boat trip to observe dolphins, and also whales if you are lucky, take surf lessons and enjoy the beaches. From there you'll swing by the Chacahua National park, where you'll be spending the day exploring the mangroves and relaxing on the beach. After Chacahua, drive west to meet the beach towns Mazunte and Zipolite. Main activities include exploring its cobbled streets and sun bathing at the beach. Lastly you'll hit the road with Huatulco as your final destination, where you'll be able to explore it's national park and visit it's 9 bays. In the last day you will return to Puerto Escondido Airport to catch your flight back home.
